The new camera brought me here.

Like a tom tom tracker it is, one week with my new camera, takes a few birdy pics, sooooooooooooo pleased I wanted to show people and found my way here.

Here comes the problem.

1st things first, join up, then start looking at the gallery, BIG problem compared to the pictures of Ollies and glsammys (and others) mine are rubbish.

Anyway, names muggsy, 58, farm manager living and working in Kent. Farms situated just inside the M25. Lots of hedges all grass with beef cattle and a few horses.
Couple of hundred acres of woodland bordering the farm, owned and managed by the Woodland Trust.
Far to many Badgers and foxes, far to many crows and magpies yet surprisingly, a fair variety of birdlife passes through each year.

Hoping to pick brains so that I too can take fantastic pictures like the ones I've seen so far

Muggsy

Re: The new camera brought me here.

Hi, Muggsy, it sounds as if you have plenty of subject options for photography on and around your farm - now you just need a bit of confidence!
Not many of us can hope to be as good as glsammy and ollie, but just being here and picking theirs, and others brains have helped me no end. I don't have the equipment or know how but I enjoy my photography and it's improving.. When someone replies to one of my gallery submissions it makes such a difference that some one has bothered to look and comment.
You said you were soooo pleased and wanted to show your photos off, bite the bullet and submit them - I am sure you are just being too critical. I'd love to see them and I am sure others will too .
Welcome to WAB!!

Re: The new camera brought me here.

Hi Muggsy, if you dont post your pictures no-one can help you, Glsammy and Ollie among others on the forum are extremely generous with their advise and I am sure that you will benefit from it, if you don't learn from WAB then you must be beyond help, seriously though, please post some pictures, we can all learn from them, good, bad or indifferent. Welcome !!!

Re: The new camera brought me here.

thanks for the welcome people

cant explain why I have taken so long to get this urge to take pictures, the final crunch came a few weeks ago I guess.

I was opening the gate to go and pick up my youngest from school, it was walnut time.
The squirrels run everywhere carrying walnuts and hiding them in the wierdest places, but
One in particular had a habit of carrying 3 at a time, lord knows how he worked out how to stack them, but he/she did. Trouble was it couldnt see where it was going half the time would have made a lovely photo for sure.

One of my favourite birds was visiting at the time also, 3rd year in a row, I've watched a young Blackstart develop into a mature cock, I'm sure its the same one.
Anyway, thats what tipped the scales, by the time this all happens again next year, and I'm sure it will, I think everyone will be fed up with my inane questions about depth of field Iso and apperture settings.
Thanks once again
Muggsy

Re: The new camera brought me here.

Hello Muggsy welcome to WAB like you I am new to this site and due to illness had to forgo my interest in Landscape photography and stick closer to home.I started on Birdlife and macro/closeup in and around my area and what I cannot gID myself the members on this site are alway there someone knows what it is or will point you in the right direction.
As to photography there everyone has to start somewhere and there are plenty of members to offer advice and the only way to receive it and improve is to make the posts so we can help.
Look forward to your posts in future.

Cheers ....Bill
