I don't really want to mix business with pleasure and so I would rather decline from saying which consultancy I work for, not that I am ashamed, just that all I can say is that it is a big company and I work with big developers on massive projects. So as you can imagin some of my work is quite sensitive. I love my job I get to ensure compliance with legislation and change the perspectives of developers have about animals and ecology in general and ensure the maximum ammount of mitigation and wildlife enhancements are undertaken. I can say with my had on my heart I make a difference.
Thanks again to everyone for the welcome.

Yes tricky I suppose, I am also an ecological consultant and I don't want to get accused of advertising. I work for a smaller ecological consultancy but used to work for a large civil engineeering firm.
I too feel I am best placed to make a difference, its why I got into the job in the first place. Its such a same we are often view as evil as a profession I have felt rather on my own trying to show this just isn't the case, it will be easier with more equally good hearted consultants around, so welcome!

Yes it is sad that the word consultant is thought to be evil. There will always be developers so it is up to consultants to give the right advice to ensure that we can retain as much wild britain as possible. I shouldn't feel out on your own as all of us are in the same boat. Glad to hear you love it though.
see you around the forum.

| | | Re: Hello I'm a ecological consultant just joined I agree if you do not help the developers think about the environment that they are changing Britain would be a worse place.
Welcome to the site.

Welcome!!! I would like to ask a question. As I'm fresh out of university and still a bit green behind the ears, i was wondering if you could offer any advice in how to get into the world of ecological consultancies. All I'm seeing on all the jobs is joining special groups or habitat surveys and licenses. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
