| | | Hello from Sunny Suffolk Just joined WAB today, while searching for an ID on a black and yellow insect. I haven't found the answer yet because I've spent ages trawling through loads of discouragingly (or is it inspirationally) fantastic photographs, plus all the really friendly welcome messages.
Somewhere I read an item from someone who referred to an on-line diary because they didn't like the term "blog" - Me neither - nice to see I'm not alone with that, either
And I don't like Forums.
They are often full of egotistical geeks out to start a row.
Why did I join this one, then???
Because members seem genuinely friendly, and helpful, and not geeks (excepting, of course those far-too-good photographers ).
I'm Essex-born and bred (if that's the word) from Hornchurch, male, 60-something (if you're of a similar age, you'll understand why it's just vaguely 60+ - can't quite do the sums on years any more ) My wife and I moved to Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1994. And my name's not Reg Nirrab - that's an anagram.
I suppose I'd better get off this introduction and over to the "insect house" to find the identity of my black and yellow blood-sucker-looking thingy.
P.S. I'll have to own up to my mate that I've joined a Forum - he knows I don't like them |

| | | Re: Hello from Sunny Suffolk Hi 'Reg Nirrab',
Welcome to WAB! I'm sure you'll enjoy the site - despite your aversion to forums! Good luck identifying the black and yellow thingy.
You are very lucky - Woodbridge is a lovely town, in a wonderful area for wildlife. I used to live nearby in Kesgrave, and I've a good friend who lives in Woodbridge.
I'll now have to spend the rest of the day working out your real name from that anagram - is it Barnie Grr?

Some people will think that Barnie Grr is a most appropriate de-anagramisation!
Some days, anyway |

| | | Re: Hello from Sunny Suffolk Hello Regnirrab - your anagram has given me something to think about - is there a prize for guessing ? Anyway, welcome to WAB, this is a great place if you don't like forums - this isn't a forum this is the wonderful world of WAB! I dont like forums either, but since I discovered this alternative I have hardly been away . |

Welcome to WAB!
I think you will have us all trying to get behind the anagram and guess your name
I reckon Brian something but I can't work out the something bit
I still live in Essex but I do know your part of the world quite well.

Tursiops2 | Hello Tractor Boy, (I am not a football supporter but I do read the EADT )
You're all on one wrong track with the anagram but then that's half the fun, isn't it!?!?
As you're local, tursiops2, you shouldn't find it too difficult, with a bit of thought, to find my real name plastered all over the place. But you'll have to get your mind round the "wrong track" issue, first.
I'm not really being coy but there are warnings not to use real names. But as my name is on several websites, including my 'main' one (over 1/4 million visitors a year), where I have just put a link to WAB on my home page, I'm not sure if it really matters. Maybe I should 'fess up with my real name??? |

Richard | Thanks for another welcome. I've moved around a bit and lived for a few years at "Alcatraz" at Laindon, Basildon. And it isn't Brian... |

That sounds a bit like Grim Reaper
And I'm not a bird. Nor a plane, nor superman. |

Pete | Pete,
I wonder if your friend knows me. There is a certain number (perhaps a few hundred) of people in the town who would know me, for a particular reason. While others won't have a clue, of course.
I'm not getting close to my yellow and black blood-sucker-looking insect but it's fun anyway. |

| | | Re: Hello from Sunny Suffolk I would guess that your surname is Barringer. 'RegNarrib' is Barringer backwards.
A Google on 'Barringer Ipswich' finds a few things - do I detect a feeling of immense satisfaction coming on (or is it just something I've eaten)? |

Maybe I'll log off and come back tomorrow and see who got it first. |
