Returning to the U.K

Hi All,
I left the UK around 16 years ago in which time I've had varied and wonderful adventures. I work predominantly as an underwater camera operator but also for most types of natural history filming, so long as I don't need to film people I'm happy. Anyway to cut a long story short I'm due shortly to return to the U.K in keeping with contractual obligations for a new and longterm filming undertaking.

I've always had a deep fascination for all things wild and look forward to discovering the beauty of the natural World in my own country.

To get an idea of my work you can check out my web presence at:

Mark Thorpe a.k.a. CamDiver

Thanks,
Mark Thorpe.

Re: Returning to the U.K

Yeah, I think its gonna be a lot colder than I'm used to. Time to break out the fleece jackets. I'm actually looking forward to it all, in a strange kind of way. There's something about the early morning mists in forests and woodland that give the UK countryside that special feel.

Cheers,
Mark.

Re: Returning to the U.K

Sounds like you've had a pretty raw deal up till now, my every sympathy

Actually, you're one of those people that make me wonder about the career path I've taken, ('If I'd done it just a little bit differently....'.)

Welcome back to the UK, and welcome to WAB. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labours while you're here.

Re: Returning to the U.K

Hi Mark, welcome to W.A.B. Prepare to become addicted to this site (it sneaks up on you without you knowing!)

I know what you mean about early morning mists - I love this country for its huge variety of weather and whilst I would not miss the constant rain I would certainly miss it in other aspects, such as mists / fog.

Welcome home
Purplepixii

Re: Returning to the U.K

Wow,
Overwhelmed by the response. Made to feel very comfortable here and I'm still in the Pacific. I'll be planning to dive and film in waterways, rivers, coastal environments and lakes to bring British marine life to life in the near future. I'll be spending a lot of time out of country though on commissions and projects but rest assured, my time at home will not be wasted.

Cheers,
Mark.

Re: Returning to the U.K

Hi Deer Stalker,
Fond memories of tracking down and watching Shrews in ditches lining the country lanes around your area. As a kid my Grandmother used to live close to Highcliffe. I'd take my bike and lose myself for hours around the forrests there. Fantastic.

Cheers,
Mark.

Re: Returning to the U.K

Hi Mark,

Highcliffe is only a few minutes away. We used to mess around in some woods & fields near Bashley as well as the New Forest.
