| | | Hello from the colonies I am from Blacksburg Va and hope I won't given the boot cause I've never been to Britain.
What are the rules for posting artwork? Must it be from and about Britian? |

I don't know the rules governing non-Brit art subjects either, but you might find it worthwhile to check out WAB's sister site WildAboutThe World: Wildlife and Environment Forum
All the best

I think I will have to listen to the forums and learn about wildlife in Britain. |

Ask the question on what you want to post in the 'Wild About Britain Web Site' forum and one of the moderators will probably be able to give you the best answers
Welcome to the site from me. Never heard of where you are from. What's it like? |

| | | Re: Hello from the colonies Well GME since you asked. Blacksburg Va is located in SW Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mts. The land is beautiful year round. Lots of wooded areas and fields as well as many small streams and lakes. Hiking on the Appalachian Trail or the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great thing to do.
Blacksburg itself is a College town and is home to Virginia Tech. "Go Hokies" |

We have some reasonable coastline around here but I dont think it will match Blue Ridge Mountains. |

Don't worry too much about not being based in the UK. The site's a great way to learn - besides, didn't the British come over to Virginia a few hundred years ago? We're practically related!
All the best

The "Waltons" is indeed based on life in a town located in the Blue Ridge Mts. The town is Schuyler (Sky-ler) and is east of me about 150 miles (241 kilometers). Never been there myself. Not a big fan I suppose.
The other TV show y'all may remember is "The Andy Griffith Show" ? The place for that is in the border town of Mount Airy North Carolina, and is closer to me. Only 90 miles (145 kilometers)
Now I must confess I have never heard the song you say is by Laurel and Hardy but since Hardy passed in 1957 and Laurel passed in 1965, I think the song must be 40-50 yrs ago?
But I would love to come to England and see you coastline and mountains. |

| | | Re: Hello from the colonies The laurel & Hardy song "ON The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" was from their film "Way out West" (??). For some strange reason it was released as a single (in the UK) in the late 1970s (79 I think ?), which is where I remember it from. It was even on "Top of the Pops", lol. |

. | No, you'd be fine I think if you uploaded the image into the 'Forum Images' gallery section and then posted it within this thread. I know I'd like to see it You can add images of anything you like really. It's just the ones to go into the moderated galleries that need to be specific. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
