But there are bound to be one or two members who do and they might be able to help you with your request. Good luck. |

If you go to the 'Treehouse' forum and find the thread 'Wildlife centres', you may be able to help me. I shall be staying near Keswick for a short break soon.

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! Hi Annmercia - lucky you there can't be a much better place for the great outdoors. I'm sure you'll soon make some contacts. As it happens I'll be camping for ! night near Keswick on Saturday. Hope the weather is fine as that might be seen as the area one minor problem.
Hope to see your post soon. |

| | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! aw! you all sound really friendly! Have recently been phoning up the wildlife trust, and local groups - the nearest one to me is kendal - which is strange really as I'm right in the middle of the national park and there's nothing around here. The lakes authorities and wildlife trusts are very good at talks and walks, but there's not much things like days out to nature reserves, Badger watching, bats etc - which I really love.
I recently lived in Grasmere (just moved) and we had a group of Badgers that came to the door each night - they absolutely loved peanut butter sandwiches - now I am in the twon as apposed to te country so feeling the loss a little - |

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! Hi ANNAMERICA, I am in Cumbria at the mo' on holiday, I use to live here but now live in Holland. It's been a great few weeks, stunning views, wildlife -I saw my first 2 Adders yesterday at Haweswater, and plenty of walking and the achy muscles that goes with it Sorry I won't be round for much longer, but good luck with your ventures and welcome to WAB . |

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! you lucky thing - I have never seen an Adder - perhaps they were sunning themselves during our one day of summer sunshine! I live in Windermere - just moved from Grasmere. It really is beautiful - though I've just moved from a house with a lovely garden and Badger visitors, owls etc to one with a small yard. I will have to think of some plants to fill up my spot and see what animals are about! |

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! Lol, I've got a few pics of goosey's Adders!! I was at Haweswater at the same time. We stood in the same hide waiting for the Golden Eagle to make an appearance (he didn't ) and I thought I recognised her but wasn't sure. It wasn't until I next logged onto WAB that I was (and following a PM). She pointed out where the Adders were basking in the sun (well, sort of sun ) when we walked back to the car park and I got a couple of pics that I haven't been able to upload yet as they're downloaded on my desktop and I've been using my laptop for work recently.
We need to walk about with big signs (or at least get the WAB badges on sale) to be able to identify each other.
You're very lucky to live in such a great part of the world. I'll be visiting again very soon no doubt
...And hi goosey |

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! Yeah the golden eagles - very sad tale last year as the female wasn't around - the male was doing some fantastic display flying - but ulucky for him his lady wasn't looking. Im not sure if he has found another female - or the old one has come back - does anyone know about their status??

| | | Re: Lake District Hello!!!!!!!!! Hi AnnMercia, welcome to the fourums - i've just joined as well. I live in Cumbria, near-ish Ennerdale. Here we have bats in summer and occasionally Red Squirrels and plenty of bird species. The best animals are reptiles: plenty of Slow Worms and viviparous lizards if you know where to look ;-). I will be finding Adders next year, and will defo be putting pics onto my site and maybe here as well. Ive also seen Grass Snakes, but not in the lakes....YET!!!
My site is Reptiles and Amphibians of Cumbria - check it out if you want |
