Arrow Hello from North Devon

I'm new so i just thought i'd say hello,i'm in North Devon and after living in flats for years,i have a house with a bit of a garden,i love nature in general, winters just as good as summer in my eyes, was going to encourage birds into the garden with various things but i got talked into getting a cat by my kids so now i dont think its so wise to tempt birds in,regularly see/find Slow Worms in the garden and almost nightly hear an owl hooting, love it.

Re: Hello from North Devon

Hello oneill villa, we've just spent the last week in your neck of the woods. We had a real good time doing all the touristy bits. We went to the wildlife place at Combe Martin and the Black Kite that they used in their midday falconry display was still flying around, having a whale of a time, at closing time. I keep meaning to email them to see if it eventually returned.

Re: Hello from North Devon

Hi, oneill_villa. Lots of us here combine having a cat and feed the birds, its just a case of being abit more thoughtful. 2 bells on the collar, keeping the cat in at night until after the birds have been in for breakfast. Placeing you feeding station away from ambush areas pyracanthas and hawthorns are ideal for making it difficult for cats. It's easier keeping your cats under control than other cats, haveing your own will keep others out the garden as they are territorial. Of course this isn't fool proof but you don't have to be denied the pleasure of feeding the birds . Welcome to WAB, enjoy the site and your birds.
