hello

i am a new member hence my novice name, i just registered tonight, i am keen on all wildlife and hope to start taking some photos as a hobby, i have asked the family to buy me a camera for my big 50 this year so would be up for any advise anyone has on a good starter camera for a beginner i love to sketch and have a few good pencil drawings but as soon as i try to put colour on them i seem to spoil them, so maybe i could get some watercolour or oil painting tips aswell, i lookforward to spending some time with you all in the forums and maybe add some paintings or photos in time. bye for now

Hello fledgling and welcome to WAB.

I'm afraid that I can't paint or sketch to save my life so I can't help you with any painting tips (perhaps you may have some advice to offer us), there are plenty of threads in the wildlife photography part of the forum though, to help you choose a camera. It might be wise to start a new thread specifying your budget and what sort of camera you had in mind.

Thankyou all for your warm welcome, it was a nice surprise when i finnished working this weekend to log on and read your replies, i suspect it will take me a while to get started with the photography i am only at the point where i am finding out about cameras i have'nt actually got one yet, but we are going to cornwall in few weeks for our 2 week break so i hope to have made my mind up by then and maybe start a few novice pics whilst away, i always take my sketch pad and pencils on holiday so if i manage anything interesting i will have a go at posting them for you to see although even that seems complicated at the moment still i will enjoy trying and it will keep me out of mischief as my dad used to say, bye for now
