Hello from Colin

Hi, pleased to meet you all.
First of all, I am not a puppy. Max is my GSD and one of my best friends. I borrowed his name. I am a fifty-year old, bearded gentleman from Rochester in Kent. Glad we got that cleared up. (Woof!) I am married with two grown up kids, Max and two collies, (Tilly and Bess).
My wife and I are in the process of buying a small plot of woodland just across the border in East Sussex. Speaking dryly, it's an investment, something to sell when we are old and feeble. It is also a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary present for a couple of old nature lovers who need a project. I am looking forward to the learning experience and also to sharing and learning from you.
Although it is not ours yet, we visited this morning and were very lucky to see two Adders within half an hour. There are also suposed to be Wild Boar, Badgers and Roe deer and lets not get started on the birds, I like birds. I cant wait to spend the night there and rise before dawn.
And then there is the bussiness of woodland management. Big project.
I look forward to posting and I will figure out how to do pics soon.
See Ya, Colin

Welcome to the site Colin. It's always been mine and the hubby's ambition to own some woodland so I am extremely jealous And having a pup called Max myself your name caught my eye!
Hope you enjoy the site, I know I do!

Re: Hello from Colin

Hi Colin, it sounds as if you have a wonderful future ahead, to own your own bit of woodland must be a great prospect. Great news is that its gone to someone who cares and not developers. Welcome to WAB and good luck with your new venture .

Re: Hello from Colin

Thank you all for the welcome. I look forward to becoming part of this community, I am sure that I can learn a lot from you.
I had started a blog about the wood. It was intended for my family and is a bit light hearted. Maybe I will create something more grown up now.
I need to apologise in advance for the quality of the pictures, I don't own a camera and all the pics are from my mobile phone. I know how disapointed some of you will be, that I encountered Adders and didn't have a camera with me. I will sort this out. I never expected to find them.
And I would like to know more about these little beasties, I was actually worried about Max meeting Wild Boar.
See you later
and thanks for the warm welcome.
Colin

And PS
I can't post as often as I would like to. I like to get up at four am and spend a couple of hours with my dogs before work. Quality time. By the time I get home from work I am pretty whacked. So if I take a few days off please don't think that I am being rude. Sometimes I don't look at the computator for days.
See Ya's
