Hi From British Red

Good evening one and all!

I have been directed to your good selves via the BCUK (Bushcraft) Forum. I guess I should confess that a lot of my interests are outdoor focussed (camping, shooting, photography, bushcrafting), but in the main just "fossicking about in the woods" covers it.

In the past nature my interests have been mainly trees and mammal based, but lately I have become more and more interested in wildflowers and insect life. When out pursuing my other hobbies I usually have a small digital camera in my pocket and take a few "record shots" to help me identify the things I don't know when I get home (easier than carrying half a dozen field guides around).

Occasionally I'm stumped though - I hope to throw myself on your mercy and resources to help me out there - mainly be reading but I hope asking for your assistance in an ID is not too presumptious for a newbie?

All the best

Red

Hello Red

A warm welcome to WAB.

Of course you can throw yourself on our mercy and resources. WAB is a very friendly community and you will find that everyone is keen to learn and indeed help one another with IDs and other information requests.

Re: Hi From British Red

Hello Red, I'm sure you'll get plenty of help when you need it from WAB members - they are a very knowledgeable lot We all like to join in and try to ID things and ask lots of questions - it a fact, you become a member here because of one or two interests and before you know it you become interested in lots of new things you hadn't even considered before. Enjoy the site and see you around.

Re: Hi From British Red

Hi Red,

A warm welcome to WAB, glad you found the site, I also carry a compact for recording the things I see, have done this for years (even when it was film) it is much easier for me with digital and with the WAB galleries and friendly people I am slowly getting names for my not knowns. My main interests are trees and flowers. So you are right at home here.

Carol.
