Just a bit of fun (now we can post images).

What is your best picture of newt in the pond/water (not on dry land). I'm not talking about pictures with submersible cameras. How many of us have waited and waited for the blessed things to grab a breather before taking that shot. Timing is everything.

This was taken at a local park. Took around 15 min just to snap this pic. of a male Smooth Newt:

Pretty dire, I have to admit, LOL. Mind you, I had to stand metres away behind a fence. Any one done any better? :-D

Great pics but how do I get one on..lol

I have one in the Gallery the newt was in a bowl from a pond dip from my garden..I dipped the end of the camera in the water my oh went ballistic lol..
Camera and newt were fine..hee hee

Look in the technical forum (soz, can't post links) and look on the "pictures in social groups" thread started by Mungo. Also, if you convert to only 600 pixels across the top edge before you upload, there is no warning across the top when you remove the "/thumbs". This should make sense if you can find the thread. :-)

Well done both for the pictures and being able to post, not sure of the technique sounds extreme! I went back to the pond today and immediately found a Great Crested but as I waited for it to surface I was surrounded by screaming kids. Not to worry I will try again.
