Mungo

I seem to have found a fascination with these fascinating insects.

So far I have seen:

Large Red Damsels
Azures Damsels
White Legged Damsels
No Dragons yet.

It is amazing how getting a new camera has changed the way I look at the world. I have only just learnt how to tell the difference between Damsels and Dragons *blush*
I hope we get the hot summer the forecasters are promising and I am sure I will be boring you all with my ramblings about them. LOL

So, what have you seen so far this year and where do you visit to see them?

Hi M

So far I have only seen large red but I did see an unidentified Dragon at Lakenheath last weekend. Lats year I went on a Dragonfly course at Wicken Fen which although it only lasted a couple of hours was interesting. Perhaps this can be a photo subject in a months time.

I was also at Lakenheath that weekend and saw Hairy Dragonflies - my first dragons of the year.

Well done Jerry I haven't had a definite Hairy yet. On the Isle of Wight I had a nice broad bodied chaser and at Marston Vale Millenium park I had three Four Spotted Chasers. Its getting really exciting with anything likely to turn up now.

No amount of raving about dragon & damsels will be enough for me to get bored of it, they are by far my favourite wildlife subject!

BTW, are you sure that you saw White-legged Damsels Mungo - they don't usually start to emerge until mid May at the earliest (then again, it has been quite warm!).

i cant say as i get too excited over them, not like when i,m about to get a picture of a rare or elusive bird or mammal, saying that i do photograph them and have some reasonable pics.

I have seen my first Dragonflies, thanks to Roy W and HW for Iding them for me.

Hairy Dragon
Scarce Chaser
Four Spot
Another I need IDing
