hi everyone, yesterday i went to the garden of the rose, and while my friend and i where having a coffee sitting outside a red kite flew over , circling as it went. we jumped up grabbed our cameras and were very excited, do you know none of the people sitting there even looked up to see what we were looking at.. people are funny. i know even if i wasnt a birder i would have looked to see what was so interesting. did yo know also that a new butterfly center is opening next to the rose garden in 2012. thay have already built some very intersting buldings in the shape of beehives, and have planted wildflower meadows i think its going to be be a lovely place.

a quick p.s on that last post . i also saw a red kite again today flying over colney heath.
i think he,s around the area permenantly as ive had about 5 sitings of him now.

This morning I went to the B,B and O Wildlife Trust's College Lake nature reserve. I wrote a post about what I saw in the General Wildlife forum (I don't seem to be able to add a link to it?).

Would make a good place for a H,B & B WABbers meeting (hint! hint!).

PS as no one from the area is currently maintaining this group it would be good if you could suggest a date and time too ;-)

This morning I had a great time at Ivinghoe Beacon. I've posted about the wildflowers and butterflies I saw on the relevant forums.

I'd be happy to go back again soon, if anybody else is interested in meeting up.

Some of the slopes are quite steep, and the nearest facilities are about a five-minute drive away at Ashridge.

Well I'm no expert, but I'm willing to take people round somewhere like Ivinghoe Beacon, showing them what's there.

Is there already a thread here or on the main part of WAB for it? Or should I create a thread on the main Meetings forum?

Would next Saturday be too soon (11th July)?

Hi All.

I went to Paxton Pits for the first time on Sunday and had a very enjoyable day out. I shall definitely be going back. Had a nice cup of tea in the visitors centre as well.

I've posted a few photos in the Birds, Butterflies and Insects forums.
