Hi
for anyone in Kent, Oare Nature reserve is really worth visiting, (near Faversham). It is a strange and isolated place, but I have never been disappointed over the years going there. I have seen marsh harriers on almost every visit as well as the occasional hobby.
This year, there were lots of breeding avocets and you can see them quite close up. In winter, there is an abundance of curlews and other wading birds. This is also a really good place to see winter visitors. I have found the Swale estuary is not the prettiest of places, but I have seen so much diversity of wildlife, more recently, my first hen harrier. I live in Faversham near the Creek which again is a really interesting place for birds, but sadly, this area is likely to be developed.
