h | Yeah is worrying that even the reputable press like the guardian charecterise these numpties as 'experts' - i'd be suprised if either have even met a big cat in the wild yet alone studied them closely (the usual qualification for expert knowledge - ie knowledge and experience of the subject)
They may have 'investigated hundreds of sightings' but that doesnt make them an expert as they've never actually seen or found a big cat in the uk - any fool can go an stand in a feild with some wooden cut outs

No different to being a so-called UFO expert really.

| | | Re: Another "Big Cat" Thread Well, that was when the rot set in really, ET experts. I mean, come on! Planet 51 mentality, I feel.
If they had been labelled 'theorists' or 'dreamers', I could forgive such twaddle. An expert has to know not believe.
Another pertinent Sagan quote, "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". Thus far I have seen no ordinary evidence.

I have seen a Big(ish) black cat, locally, and so I think there are a small number "out there".... but I was not convinced about this video.

An expert, like a good scientist, should know what the current knowledge indicates is the status-quo, but realise that it is still only a theory, albeit the best one to currently fit the evidence. So there is a big difference in theorists (which all scientists and experts should be) and dreamers, if you see what I mean...
Most experts I trust are fairly unassuming sort of people, the 'empty bottles make the most noise' holds true imho.
Cheers,
Matt

So when people complain about big cat sightings (or even UFO's) always being fuzzy or out of focus, therefor must be fake, perhaps they now know why.
Not that I believe in UFO stories or all big cat stories, but I do believe individuals have been released from time to time and have managed to survive on their own for a few years before dying.

| | | Re: Another "Big Cat" Thread Finding the skeleton of a deer is relatively easy if you look in the undergrowth beside a road which passes through an area where deer are known to congregate, but 'big cats' seem not to have a tendency to cross roads and get knocked down.
Even if one did get hit and made it to the undergrowth to die, there is every possibility other creatures would eventually gnaw away at the bones for their calcium intake.
