We have an acres worth of trees (420) from the Woodland Trust and really could do with some pointers as to how to plant them.
My thoughts are as a rectangle 140 yards by 35 yards with the longer part being on the south facing side. A path running through the middle being about three meters wide east to west. Plenty of curves in the path and the south facing edge, to create as many micro-habitats as possible.
The trees are winter harvest types that we can make jams and the like out of.
