I noticed that quite a few trees around my area suddenly droped all their leaves.
Makes me feel cold already. |

| | | Re: Sudden 'Fall'! I think that, fror this area, it's rather late. Oak didn't really start to fall (indeed, were still quite green) until this weekend. Some surprising things still in leaf - sycamore and other Acer spp are still largely on the tree and have only just turned yellow. I put it all down to lack of serious frosts: leaves of most trees have had time to senesce (effectively, withdraw all the chlorophyll and other nutrients from their leaves) before the frost as hit them and caused leaf-fall.
Trees apart, we still have French beans being produced and runner beans still in leaf! That is certainly a record for our garden. |

I suppose the foliage has been tricked into thinking it's still September because of the temperature.
It's 14c here today.
If I remember rightly, I think we've only had 2 frosty mornings so far & they were at the beginning of October.

| | | Re: Sudden 'Fall'! Magnolia tree just down the road is coming into bloom, still in full leaf. The apple tree still has most of it's leaves and loads of apples still on it.
