How to make a bird box?

Does anyone know how to make a bird box out of an old log?

Nice! I might make one of those myself. The only change I would suggest is that instead of nails and PVA I'd screw the bottom on so that it can be taken off to clean and disinfect the box once per year.

I think I'd split the log into 2 pieces, bore an angled shaft into one of the halves, then chisel or router a nesting chamber in both halves, and do as you say, using screws instead of glue.
