| | | Wildlife happy days Most things I read on conservation are depressing; there must be some interesting happy endings. I started this thread for people to add the positive things that are happening around them big or small let other people know that it’s not all doom and gloom.

| | | Re: Wildlife happy days A local cemetery has a large widflower meadow and information about bats. I thought that this would be a nice place to be buried.

| | | Re: Wildlife happy days I live on the east side of Bath I have noticed a large increase in the numbers of farmland birds, mostly down to the conservation work done by the local farmer, hedges being replanted and margins left around the fields were this year we found a large amount of Roesel's bush-cricket (Metrioptera roeseli), yellowhammers numbers are up along with skylarks on the high ground, lots of meadow pipits on the slurry pit through the winter. Next year he is planting a fair few acres of the winter bird seed mix, I am looking forward to seeing the results.

| | | Re: Wildlife happy days Steve, I as you know, study the British Flora, (and fauna), and have done since the early 50's; and I can honestly say, that anyone now beginning their own journey into this field will find Britain as an exciting place as I did all those years ago; and I still do.

| | | Re: Wildlife happy days Dorts , what you say is very true, I have only become very interested in the British Wild Flora in the last couple of years, and although very frustrating at times I am having some great fun I enjoy identifying and recording the find with the cameria, I run the local natural history flicr site so all the photographs become of some use.
