| | | I'm Off To Skegness, Where Can I Go For Wildlife? Hey Everyone
I am off to Skegness next week with the family for a week and I'm looking to take in a bit of wildlife.
I was thinking of Donna Nook bay at first for the Grey Seals but from looking around online would I be too early? Is there likely to be anything on the beach?
Otherwise I am looking at one of the RSPB reserves in the area, I typed the postcode of where I'm stopping into their website and got this:
Titchwell Marsh
19 miles away
Freiston Shore
19 miles away
Frampton Marsh
22 miles away
Snettisham
22 miles away
Are any of those good and if so which would you recommend/why?
How about Gibraltar Point in Skegness itself - anything worthwhile seeing there?
Thanks for your help!
Cheers, Rob |

Gibraltar Point is an excellent reserve with a good range of bird hides, but I've only visited it once in recent years and then in the Spring. Like Spurn there is a bird observatory with a Heligoland trap, so I'd expect its a good site for migrants. There are plenty of other things other than birds at 'Gib' too!
Unfortunately the tides are not right for you this coming week or I would have recommended getting up very early and catching a Snettisham 'spectacular'. Sadly there was one today and one tomorrow morning, but the next one is at the end of October. |

You're a bit early for the Donna Nook seals to be up in the dunes. |

Just to confirm, Donna Nook Bay - whilst there wouldn't be any Seals on the beach, is there likely to be any just off the coast - or I should just leave that site and head for Gibraltar Point & the RSPB sites. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
