| | | Re: Nature Book Recommendation Oops, didn't see this. Did you get one? Have a good look in the book reviews section: Reviews - General Wildlife
That's the general wildlife; there are other sections.
Do you mean an ID book?
That's a tricky one if so, as no book can ever do every category justice.

| | | Re: Nature Book Recommendation Hi Ray,
One of the best general UK wildlife books I've got is the "Dorling Kindersley RSPB Wildlife of Britain". - It's a monster of a book - about 12" x 10" x 1.5" in size), and is cram packed with great photos and descriptions of Britains flora and fauna.
Has been on sale cheap at WHSmiths, but not sure if they still have it in.
Two more to look out for have the title "Fauna Britannica".
Two different books with the same title, but both books are superb. - One is by Duff Hart-Davis, and the other by Stefan Buczacki.
I managed to get both of the above from "The Works" at silly cheap prices.
Another great general book to have is "Wildlife of Lancashire".
This one, as far as I'm aware can only be bought from the Lancashire Wildlife Trust (Last time I was there, they had them in stock at "The Barn" Headquarters in Cuerden Park Preston). - It's not cheap at around £30.00, but it is a fantastic book for local species info.
Then there's WAB's very own PMG who once wrote a little paperback book with the title "North West Nature - by Pauline Mellor".
It describes the flora/fauna likely to be found at many of Lancashire's nature reserves.
It's out of print now, but get hold of a second hand copy if you can, as it is still as valid today as it was when written.
Regards,
Mike.
