Yes give them all the hostas they want,then they will breed,one will get stuck and will have it's jobbly nibbled off,and the distress of being freed from it's man shackles will probably cause it to dive right in to your pond...(not scientifically proven as yet)Scustin'!

That was my thoughts too except that if it contains sperms - and logic says it must do, otherwise why is it lying between them - then if they seperate without reabsorbing and leave it as 'star jelly' then the sperms are left also?? Doesn't make a lot of sense so which way its thought about - but I would like to see if they mix this 'stuff' outside their bodies and then reabsorb - but the pics I have and the pics I have seen - the two big holes are open on each slug - the penis has pressumably gone back inside - but the stuff still lying between them doesn't look as tho its going to be taken back in - and this is the crux of the matter? It looks far too substantial to be the goo/slime they make to travel on so you have to think its a product of sex? I can see the only way I am going to find out is get a tank and some slugs and watch continuously if any get frisky ......... I'll let you know if the question becomes so important for me to answer that I actually do this - but don't hold your breath
