| | | Wabbers on water I am out with the lad today, for our second full day on the wide beam narrow boat. The wildlife has been simply superb.
We have spotted so far
Kingfishers x 5 including one at 3 foot
Bittern x 1, both spotted simultaneously, then it was gone
Red kite x 4
Terns
Herons by the dozen
Plenty of dragonflies
Badger at 30 foot
Several foxes
Barn swallows nesting at eye height in Bruce tunnel
Loads of birds we don't recognise
Snake on the towpath
All this at sub 4mph.
We are on the Kennet and Avon and have done Newbury to Devizes.
Plan is to eventually have a WAB wide beam narrow boat so that members can benefit from it to. Watch this space!!!

Sounds wonderful- you've seen loads BUT I bet from your point of view you were glad you were onboard and not on the towpath!
Got any pictures Andrew?

Got any pictures Andrew? | We don't have any images Jules as are both working to make good time. In retrospect, I wish I had brought my equipment though.
I was on the towpath by the way as we are sharing lock duties. Needless to say I didn't hang around to find out what species

its a shame i've moved , i used to live reet near devizes so we could have met up for an evening of bat detecting and beer , but unfortunately i'm in east devon now so you'll need to keep heading west
