| | | Google google google google I've seen in a couple of threads recently some negative comments and thoughts regarding the asking of questions in the forum. Surely that is what the forum is for, to poll for views, opinions, answers and to promote spin-off discussions?
If we all sat simply googling the answers to our questions there would be not much left of the forum?
To be honest the answer to every "what's this bird please?" might well be "get a bird book" or "go look at google images" but where's the fun in that? Most of us learn something from these threads along the lines of "the legs are to light for a ...... and we wouldn't usually see them until May" etc.
To see a sig line that says something like "go google your question first" just goes against the entire spirit of the forum, doesn't it?

| | | Re: Google google google google I joined WAB in the first place because it kept coming up when I Googled my wildlife questions. Have happily had all sorts of things IDd from photos - Google doesn't do that - there you have to have some idea what you're looking at to know what questions to ask.
WAB has very useful people interested in helping out.

| | | Re: Google google google google To be honest I don't see the need to answer any genuine question in such a negative and dismissive way.
A big "BOOOO" to these party poopers is what I say.

| | | Re: Google google google google Google has its uses and Google Earth I find brilliant to trace Green Corridors,
and although the images are rather old now, to see where your garden fits into the system and if a little surreptitious shrub planting can link more up to my house
People should have an answer, "face to face" as it were not be fobbed off

Agreed Nigel...Very, very, very agreed. as said in a previous post, by Loripo, 'Google is only a computer programme,' you only get out what someone has put in, which is nowhere near as good as Wabbers can give... |

| | | Re: Google google google google I think it could be reasonable if the OP had a stab at it in the first place however.
I am happy to help on threads which ask 'What is this bird please?' for example.
What narks me is all of the 'ID please' or 'what is this?' non-descript thread titles
