| | Research - request for help Dear All,
I am a researcher in the School of Applied Sciences at Bournemouth University; I am currently conducting a review of public opinion on environmental matters generally and non-native species specifically.
If you have five minutes to spare and would be willing to take part please visit my on-line survey: https://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/bourne...native_species
At the end of the survey is a link to further information about the topic of my research. The survey is anonymous and does not collect any personal information.
Many thanks

It's a similar survey to one that was posted a while ago but not one that I've seen before (I may have missed it though).
It's not a Bournemouth uni web page because it's an online survey site web page.
...and while "jpegg" might seem like an unfortunate username on an internet site, a web search does seem to show that Josie Pegg is indeed a researcher with Bournemouth University (and perhaps also a fairly successful runner with Bournemouth Joggers!?).
I'll give the survey a go anyway... |

| | | Re: Research - request for help Eeyore,
Just to reassure you I am a real person, and this is a genuine survey. It is online for one month only (until the 31st July), and this is my first posting of it on this forum - although I have posted it under the same username on other forums.
My user name JPegg is an abbreviation of my name Josie Pegg.
The survey is hosted by Bristol University - their on-line survey service (Bristol online surveys 'BOS') are used by many academics.
To re-iterate my first post it's purpose is to collect opinion for my research, and it is anonymous and asks for no personal information.
I am reliant on the general public's assistant to gather the information I need and apologise if in anyway this appears insincere.

Quite true - I am both a researcher at Bournemouth University and a member of the Bournemouth Joggers running club! |

| | | Re: Research - request for help okay my apologies ms pegg - i'll give your survey a whirl
However on the whole I'm a bit tired of seeing people join specifically to conduct online surveys (often quite similar), there are about 6 running in recent threads , largely in the environment forum (IMO its borderline spam as its not posted by members per se - but by those who join multiple fora to make the same single post)
Bournemouth university seems to come up quite frequently too - probable that a lecturer there has hit on this great wheeze for his students to carry out 'original research'

| | | Re: Research - request for help Thanks Eeyore,
I appreciate your feedback.
Collecting survey data is (as I'm sure you imagine) a difficult task, whether it be by mailshot, approaching people directly or on-line. I've found forums a very useful way of tapping into people with a subject interest, but I do appreciate it may not be the sort of thing that a forum owner wants filling up their site however generally I've had positive feedback from people that like the chance to give their opinion, and like to think a forum post offers the reader the chance to take part or ignore it.
Many thanks to anyone who does choose to take part, and I will certainly bear your comments in mind.

*Boring story alert*
I went to a a certain establishment late one Christmas Eve. The person at the front seemed to me to be judgemental. Instead of welcoming those people that he saw were new and making them feel at ease, he made a point of pointing out that the building was never that full normally and people should congregate at other times of year too.
I never went there again.
*End of boring story*
Welcome to WAB Josie, whatever the reason.
I will endeavour to fill in your survey.
