The beast proved very amicable to human beings, and was first reported soon after the enactment of DWA legislation, so it's pretty clear that it had been released from a private collection.
Full details are on an older thread on this topic.
See you in La-la Land h.
Ric | I know of this case Ric, but the point is and always will be that I cannot see a breeding population of felines a-wandering the UK. Also as the mog in question was a release it really wasn't wild, just lost, poor bloody animal! Whoever the owner was/is, proves the despicable nature of some of our fellow 'sapiens'.
I'll put the kettle on if I get to cuckoo land first, if not you stoke up the fire.

I share your scepticism about breeding populations. As I've said, I can accept the presence of a few escaped/released small wildcats, but the population density is far too low to allow potential breeders to meet. Or is there a Moggie Mating page in the Daily Tail? Toms, find your ideal Queen! Queens, meet the Tom of your dreams! You could have literally dozens of eligible males howling after you. Not for long though.

Ric | The little horrors hold a ruddy Beate Uhse Road-show at the back of my place every damned week it seems. I've worn out two water pistols shifting the 'erberts out of my veg patch. I must get that Malamute pup! Then try leaving deposits in me carrots you feline fleabags! Ha!

could you not train some Tegenaria to patrol your veggie patch? If some local mog got a severe bite up the bum while engaging in its nefariously crappy activities it might have a useful deterrent effect.
Just a thought.

BIC CATS, Facing Britain's Wild Predators Big Cats: Facing Britain's Wild Predators: Amazon.co.uk: Rick Minter: Books
Rick was interviewed on Radio Cumbria recently and can be heard from 1'20" onward here BBC iPlayer - Ian Timms: 10/11/2011
The interviewer quotes the wrong affiliation - Rick did this for Big Cats in Britain. |

| | | Re: Big Cats Living As Wild In The Uk Just been reading a bit of Yahoo news. Seems someone has found a deer carcass that is suspect of a large cat kill. DNA samples have been taken from the Deer remains.
Cant find a descent link to post on here, if you google...Deer carcass sparks big cat inquiry.
