Does sound very much like hog courtship. One of the most bizarre and entertaining rituals to watch.

We have a poorly hog in at the moment and see one on someone's lawn most evenings while we walk the dogs.

It's been a good year for them weatherwise here. Damp would be a fair description.

The lights I use in the garden are solar spot lights (mine have three little lights inside). I group two or three together and they make plenty of light so I can see the hedgehogs when they are in the feeding station. Hedgehogs are not bothered by them as it is a constant light. Hedgehogs aren't so keen when I shine a small torch light at them.
