Bee in my chimney?

Hiya all, how amazing is this site??

The reason for this thread though, is that the last month or so Iv been hearing a single buzzing up high in my chimney. Could it be a wasp or a bee?

If its just random wasps wandering in to have a nosey then out thats fine. Surely if its a nesting wasp I would hear more than a single buzz everyday?

If its a Bee nesting then I dont want to accidently smoke it out when I light the fire come winter.

So, dont know if I need to do anything about this or not? Any suggestions?

It does sound like a bee has set up home in your chimney, if it was lots of bees or wasps I would have though you would have found some getting into the house. We had Masonry bees behind some wall tiles once and they were quite a problem, you couldn't have missed them.
If you think it is there in the Autumn I would light a very small smokey fire to see if it would get the message and move on.

Sounds like a smokey small fire wont kill it so will do that. Or may try a load of joss sticks
