| | | Your ideas for my wasted garden space OK people I need your brains for a minute please. I have in my garden a bit of wasted space behind our shed (see pics below).
It's approximately 4.5ft squared, and the back wall is around 4.5ft too.
Any ideas please on what I could do with this space!?! I think it's too sheltered to grow anything worthwhile, and probably not good enough for a small pond.
(ignore the tattyness sorry!)
Thanks!

| | | Re: Your ideas for my wasted garden space Well, htcdude, I think I'd check out where the sun is and make it into some sort of seating arrangement - maybe a bench or trellis across the back - in the sun or out of the wind etc.
Of course, it depends on what you have in the rest of the garden, but if nothing much is going to grow there - why not?
In fact, I'd probably look at doubling up that back wall and make it into a deep trough with trellis above it - and plant it up with sweetpeas or similar scented items - THEN arrange some sort of seat below it.
It depends on the view from that corner, I guess...................
I'll be very interested to read about anyone elses thoughts....

| | | Re: Your ideas for my wasted garden space You can put a bbq in there but it might burn the shed..
I was going to say put some trellis up ( but got beaten to it) to screen off the house and give you more privacy then grow either some ivy or honeysuckle up the trellis and it will spread along the fence this will bring in some wildlife and maybe get birds nesting in there. |

| | | Re: Your ideas for my wasted garden space You could grow a small fruit tree in a container, or even a couple. There are apples which have two types grafted on.
Another suggestion is a container pond with a few plants and a seat nearby where you can watch things.

| | | Re: Your ideas for my wasted garden space How about some tallish trellis or a trellis arch (with a seat if there's room) so it'd screen you from next door, then cover the arch with a nice climbing rose and a honeysuckle. The rose could spread over the shed roof a little way (but for goodness' sake don't go for one of the really rampant ones or you'll lose the shed completely! ) It'd also improve next door's view too!
Or what about a bamboo in a large container?
Or it might be a good spot for a compost bin - tucked away out of sight a bit?

| | | Re: Your ideas for my wasted garden space I think Hedgehoggy's idea is spot on. That gap was made for a wildlife mini-environment/refuge thingy. Apart from that, depending on the outlook, the best I could come up with was a mini hide from which to survey your rolling acres and teeming wildlife.
I'm going pallet hunting myself tomorrow I think. Then all I'll need is a space.
