Otter killed on Lake Windermere
I've just heard that an Otter was killed on Thursday by an illegal trap that was set on Lake Windermere

Anyone know if this is true? And if it is, what were the motives behind it?

Looks like it it true - plenty on the 'net about it.

I don't know about the motive. Possibly protecting fish stock, but I don't know if that is sensible speculation in theat area.

One report I read mentions the use of the trap in Windermere, which may suggest it was underwater and therefore less likely that the otter was caught by accident.
