| | | The turn of the Year Well all, its now midday on the summer solstice. From now on the sun will sink just that little bit lower, the days will shorten and the cold will return.
But what things do we have to look forward too? The geese returning with the autumn rush of wings, fruit in the hedgerows and our esturies covered with waders? The faded greens of summer turning to the riot of colour of autumn, the days being just that cold enough for a good long walk, the anticipation of frost on spiders webs? Instead of missing the sun what good things will be on the way and what is to be expected in the coming months? |

| | | Re: The turn of the Year Happy Christmas.
Me, I'm still waiting for summer! My calendar has gone wrong. June temperatures in April, March winds in May and April showers in June... what next??
Thank you for depressing me further.

| | | Re: The turn of the Year Today, so dark that I needed the lights on almost all day, a short period of warm then a cold wind. Nothing seems to grow in the garden or polytunnel. It is an odd Summer so far.

| | | Re: The turn of the Year As far as I'm concerned it will remain summer until the last dragonfly has popped its clogs! So about october time I'll think about autumn.
