OMG just think this duckling could end up on the Jeremy Kyle show - bad bad parent |
If you think about it, the comment from Blooming Marvellous isn't completely random - it fits in perfectly with the opinion that Doggle Avaddit raised (and was sort of touched on in post #42). It's not necessarily true, but it
is a valid point to consider.
Personally I think that this thread has now run its course, but if anyone is thinking of commenting further then I would suggest that before they do so they should read through all previously comments
very carefully and consider both
what has been said, and
how it has been said (there have been quite a few comments that are at the very least bordering on personal attacks - and [IMHO] these have largely come from one side of the 'discussion').
I consider the following to be
very relevant here
(with the bold section added by me to something that has already been said):

The truly wise will listen and take on board other people's views and opinions. And the foolish (regardless of their education status [or their original opinions and beliefs]) will close their eyes and shut off their ears and open their their mouths to lecture to everyone else.

Think very carefully about where the attacks have come from in this thread, and which of the contributors have shown no indication of truly considering the opposing opinions - valid points have come from
both 'sides' and each 'side' has been more or less equally stubborn in arguing that their opinion is correct.
As has been said, WAB is a discussion forum - anyone who does not agree with a posted viewpoint is allowed to say so. In many cases no agreement will be reached, but that
does not mean that either of the opposing views is without merit.
Give other peoples views due consideration - there is certainly no reason to label others as less compassionate, or suggest that they do no have the best interests of wildlife at heart because (rightly or wrongly) they chose to consider more than just the individual in cases like this.
