| | | A walk in the Park Took my walk with the Lioness, down through the park today. Weather warm and drizzly. First spot was a pair of Grey Wagtails, zooming, stall-fluttering after a cloud of mayflies. Roach and Dace leaping after the same Mayflies made it a busy stretch of the Chew. A little further on we ducked under some trees and followed a short track to the riverbank and a quiet glide between shallow banks. I saw a Heron just as it saw me, it lifted on parachute wings and swept by us looking nonplussed. Further along the Lioness pointed out a dab of blue in the water which exploded to the surface as a Kingfisher, no catch though. Final spot, a Mole hill with the resident stolidly shouldering earth out of its run, the Lioness had never seen one before, so she watched fascinated with the binoculars until it went subterranian again.
That was it then we had to shelter from a heavy shower, as did everything else

| | | Re: A walk in the Park Thank you very much, I was looking for a Dipper that sometimes moves into the park, the river runs over a stoney bottom and has fast well oxygenated
water and then slow deep glides, bats abound but mainly Pipistrelle nowadays.
