Hi, I would like some advice regarding some hairy footed flower bees that keep coming into my house. .
I have tried to post this in insect and invertebrates but for some reason im not allowed to.
Around this time last year I kept getting the odd bee appear in my dining room. Each time I identified it as a female hairy footed flower bee. The bees were always very lethargic and looked pretty much dead.
This year its happening again. I know most of you wont see much of a problem with this - these bees arent aggressive at all and dont seem to be posing any sort of threat - but I am terrified of bees and wasps. I suffer severe anxiety which is only worsened by the fact that I may wake up in the morning to found bees in my dining room! Also - I have a 2 year old and all his toys are in there - I know that If he spotted a bee before me he would likely eat it!
What I would like to know - is HOW and WHY they are getting in. At first I thought that they might be falling down the chimney and coming in through the vent - but this vent has now been covered since last year. I keep the dining room door closed and dont open windows in there - so there is no chance they could have got in that way. My thinking is, is that they might be coming in through an airbrick near the back door and getting in under the skirting boards (which have considerable gaps between them and the floor) - is this possible? And how would I prevent this from happening?
Its obviously no good them coming into my home because they just end up dieing - and although I am not a fan of flying insects I certainly dont wish them dead. Aside from the skirting boards I cant find anywhere else where they may have got in but im quite sure there must be some sort of gap probably under the skirting boards because I always have snails/slugs in the dining room too! - I dont actually see them - they hide out somewhere and must come out in the night because in the morning im left with snail trails!
Thanks in advance
