| | | Re: Football player kicks owl I can't keep from thinking of the similarity here of booting an Owl off the pitch, and hoiking a fish from a river via a large hook in its mouth.
Seems fishermen do this all the time for fun, the footballer did it the once in a fit of pique.
Unless perhaps I'm missing something. |

A man (or woman) lashes out and punches their partner, or a parent throws a child across the room because of having one too many drinks or tortures and kills the family pet. There is no excuse for kicking an animal to death anymore than there is for catching a fish and stamping on it or killing it, just for fun. Wizzo

The most upsetting part of the video (for me) was seeing the owl look up at the man, just for a second, before he kicked it. The eye contact.
I just can't believe he did it.

Tracey | That's the Image that I can't get out of my head either.

I wasn't trying to excuse the guy anything, just pointing out that there certainly does seem to be a line drawn between persitently hoiking fish out of their environment for fun, and kicking a bird off the park in anger.
I can't quite see how the logic works though. |

| | | Re: Football player kicks owl The fishermans intent to cause injury and distress to the fish is pre-meditated and ongoing, the footballer quite probably reacted instinctively and will no doubt not be doing that ever again. |

I guess, at least, he won't ever kick an owl again.
Only a certain type of person would do this though, even if it was an 'instinctive' reaction.
He had no self control and his lack of ability to manage his anger was apparent.
Do you think his behaviour is only confined to the pitch? I doubt it.
I'm not suggesting he goes around kicking animals, or even people, when he's OFF the pitch - but in my opinion, he has issues that need addressing, whether he's a footballer or not.

| | | Re: Football player kicks owl My daughter and I were quite upset by this incident, the owl may not have survived being hit by the football or been found to be too injured and had to be put down. However it wasn't give the chance of life by that dreadful footballer.
I understand he has been fined, but I would be quite happy if he didn't play football again, he is hardly a good role model for anyone else. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
