| | | What are the benefits of Wildlife field notes? Hey again,
I've started to make a few fieldnotes occasionally from the wildlife that i see, what i want to know is, how benefitial is this to me? I am a keen photographer, so if there are any photographers out there that take fieldnotes whilst out and about, why do you do it? What questions do you ask yourself when making them? and does it further your knowledge about the subject making your photography easier?
Thanks |

They can be anecdotal reminding you of what you saw and maybe the reason why you took a photograph . Even if you didn't take photographs notes are a reminder of what you saw; bringing back memories of what you were doing at the time, why what sort of day it was and why you made the record.
Another reason for taking notes is pass on the information to your County Recorders who collates all the information about wildlife in the county where you either live or have visited. Though they may have organised teams of observers collecting records, the casual observer is also very important in providing details of what they see. All information is important and goes to towards helping the various conservation organisations manage and conserve wildlife through out the country.
So! Keep taking notes. They'll always remind of the good times.

| | | Re: What are the benefits of Wildlife field notes? i take field notes. mainly these days just of what birds i've seen, how many etc. sometimes i go into further detail, but not often. also take note of weather, and other things of note in the environment.
in summer i record flowers and butterflies and sometimes other stuff. i used to put it in a handwritten diary of my observations, but it got a bit messy and troublesome, so now i just write it on a blog. can put photos on there too which helps.
