| | | Wildlife goals for 2011? I found the 2010 wildlife-goals thread interesting to go back through.
My goals for 2011:
1) Get my article on otters for a local magazine finished and printed.
2) Get some nighttime otter photos with the trail camera.
3) Get Gallery-quality badger photos.
4) Line up a badger article.
5) Get passable puffin photos.
6) Find a local wall-lizard colony
What are your 2011 wildlife goals?

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2011? This is a good idea My goals are:
1) Become a Chartered Environmentalist
2) Volunteer for dormouse nestbox monitoring somewhere nearby
3) Go on a dormouse handling course
4) Take a photo of a kingfisher
5) See a short-eared owl
6) Send any interesting sightings to the local biological records centre.
Do-able I think? Yeah! |

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2011? I'm hoping to:
1. Have something use my birdboxes
2. Spot a kingfisher
3. Purchase a remote trail camera
4. Attract dragonflies and other wildlife to my newly constructed pond
5. Attract lots of bugs and caterpillars etc to my new wildlife garden
6. Install a stagbeetle bucket
7. Tame a robin or starling to eat from my hand
That'll do for starters

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2011? 1. See a peregrine.
2. Do a relevant short course, probably tree ID.
3. Identify as much of the plants in the cemetery park next door as I can, therefore learning about plant IDs.
4. See more of the general natural environment in Britain, including walking the Ridgeway.
5. Volunteer regularly.
6. Go to some of the wildlife walks in the local park.
7. Have a go at astronomy (ok not wildlife as such, but natural world).
I'm confident about all of these. |

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2011? 1) Continue volunteering and hopefully get a relevant job
2) get some experience in monitoring, as well as more specific habitat management, including getting some chainsaw training
3) See 150 bird species (made it to 147 last year)
4) Get more involved in wildlife in the communtiy, moth nights, talks, walks etc.
can't think of many at the moment, we'll see how i do on these!

| | | Re: Wildlife goals for 2011? 1) see deer rutting in the New Forest
2) get plant ID to a vaguely respectable level!
3) go to europe for bird migration (money very much permitting!)
4) more small mammal recording and handling as it's great fun
5) make myself go birding more often and peel myself off the sofa!
6) finally get to grips with more bird calls |
