Hi,
ETI Bioinformatics have recently released the Stace's Flora on the iPhone as well as a British Herptiles app.
I've had a look at the Herptiles app, which is free, and it seems good - you can use a key or a species list to find the right species and there are several photos for each.
Stace is £9.99 so I'll be buying that after payday  but it looks good and, being based on the Stace DVD-ROM, it's very comprehensive!
Has anyone else had a look?

I know that birdguides have now launched the moths of Britain and Ireland App based on the recent photographic book with lots of micromoth info. Looks really really good.
Soooo good about the Flora App!! This has been a big gap in the market for a while!!

One good point - in view of the recent DNA use for taxonomy, the app. will be easily updated, whereas if you buy the book it will need reprints.

I have recently downloaded this App... and I have to agree with your comments that this is NOT an app for beginners.
I am very much a beginner! and whilst it might be useful in identifying plants, it's going to take some time to understand.
What's desperately needed, in my view, is a wildflower app along the lines of the birdguides wonderful ones for birds and butterflies - a big gap in the market!
