I bought the Bresser Biolux NV from my Lidl yesterday,I set it up today and was impressed with the build quality for such a cheap instrument.This is not a plastic toy.It even has a well made micro movement slide stage, a USB veiwer/camera and tough plastic carrying case.Unfortunatly the lights on my instrument dont work so I will have to return to the shop after the New Year holiday for a replacement. I couldent resist having a peek though, using the light of a goose neck lamp, and was greeted with some stunning veiws of issued prepared slides.The USB camera veiwer is not of great resolution but within half a hour of opening the box I had a reasonable image of a House Fly foot in my computer and printed out.I cant wait to get my replacement, I just hope they have one left,because already I cant do without it!

I went to my Lidl today and got my replacement.However the lights dont work on that one either.Its a great pity because for the price this is a wonderful piece of kit.Im not taking this one back.After removing the lower light Ive devised a swinging mirror( made from a old telescope flat) under the stage for use with a goose neck lamp(works great).Im in the progress of fitting a top light made from a torch bulb attached to a battery pack.Ive not read of any other complaints of dud lights on these instruments-maybe Im just extraordinarly unlucky.But I will be writing to the Lidl main office about it.
