| | | Rare wildlife in Northumberland, particularly the Embleton Bay area Ello everyone,
Could anybody help me with the names of any rare and interesting species of wildlife in the Embleton / Beadnell Bay area in Northumberland?
Basically I need to produce a brochure for university aimed at A-level students visiting the area and while most people are doing the geology of the land, I thought it might be interesting to cover some of the wildlife in the area, with a focus on rare species.
Worry not, by the way, definitely not cheating here. The crux of the assignment is the production of both ordnance survey and GIS map detailing the location of key features/areas and the design/written content of the booklet. I can acquire the information to place inside by any means possible.
I know that there is a kittiwake colony and there are common lizards to be found. I also read online that there are Natterjack Toads to be found on the beach - is this true?
Thanks for your time, means a lot.

Kittiwakes and common lizards arnt particularly rare, are you looking for interesting or scarce species?
I dont think natterjacks are currently in northumberland but I could be mistaken, possibly some historic records though. |

Six-spotted Burnet moths (not especially rare) seem to be a speciality of that coastal area too. |

I have since been unable to find what I read about natterjacks - must just be the common toad I'd imagine.
Thanks for the information on the Little Tern colony too. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
