An Ode to Autumn

[Cordaline]

The heating has come on, need to be all toasty & warm.
Dark in the mornings, evenings drawing in, light the fire, let Autumn begin.

The Horse Chestnut Trees have all but lost their leaves,
They are victim of the leaf Minor Moth, a sad sight indeed.

The last of my patio tubs have finally gone over,
Although the Fuschia's are hanging on 'til October.

The berries are bountiful on many a tree,
Birds seeking them out I'm sure filled with glee.

Lovely colour changes on the trees all around,
Yellow, orange, brown & reds to be found.

Garden Spider's have taken over every windowsill, plant & trellis,
One or two exceptionally large, to me they're a menace.

Halloween costumes now in the shops, what else is nearly here?

Yes, you've guessed it, my favourite time of year.

For Christmas is coming, of that you can be sure,
The run up to it.......that is what Autumn is for!
