| | | Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! Dear all
i want to hear about your wildlife mysteries!
Confusing behaviour? Un-answerable evidence? Strange happenings?
The famous stories of open milk bottles, opened by blue tits etc etc
i would love to know what the 'wild about britain' bloggers have found/seen/ or not seen, that they would like answered!!
Thanks so much. It may seem a bit random, but its just something in its early stages
yours

| | | Re: Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! Blue tits ALWAYS did this.... I believe it was a learned behaviour, which spread from flock to flock.
BUT..... a wildlife mystery I want to know about is "Stoat Funerals". I have heard a couple of examples of this... a procession of stoats (generally in twos) carrying the dead body of another stoat. Anyone witnessed this?

| | | Re: Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! Do you mean stories like my old dog in our old farmhouse. The dog would regularly growl and attack something in the middle of the living room that we could not see. Her eyes would go black with fear/anger and she would leap at nothingness. |

| | | Re: Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! The dog's reaction was normal - dogs can sense things that we can't sense.

| | | Re: Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! Now that reply scares me. Was there something there? My daughter was always seeing things there when she was small was the dog protecting her. It is a bit creepy! |

When I was a school "Milk Monitor"and the milk used to freeze so that the tops were pushed up by a frozen pillar of milk.
If I can just work out how to put photos on this site We have annual, mystery visitors who leave footprints to our beach with the Summer New Moon.
We have private beach that comes with the house. No-one else would be there to leave footprints.
I first noticed them after I had dream about Sea Monster. How bizarre.

| | | Re: Wildlife mystery?? I want to know about it! The mystery of the village post box and why all the stamps were left at the bottom of the box when the letters were removed.
A diligent bit of detective work revealed that snails were doing it - presumably garzing on the glue.
Guess you wanted to work that one out benanderson! |

When we first had it delivered (a couple of years ago) the blue-tits (or other types, never actually saw the little blighters) used to regularly peck open the bottles until we bought a box to put the milk in.
So I don't think age has anything to do with it as it still happens nowadays & I don't think blue-tits can tell the difference between full fat & semi.
