Tawny Owls are known for biting the head off their prey and leaving it behind, but I am not suggesting that happened here, but whooooo knows?

You're right, Brocakat, that's where Winder Wood is. I was referring to the Littledale area in general (I know its Caton Moor - Roeburndale!) and pointing out that Littondale is in the Dales, possibly not what PMG meant.

For the record, I consider Roeburndale and Littledale two little gems worthy of exploration.
