| | | Wildlife Books - Second hand Reader Digest Nature lovers series Hi there,
I have just recently purchased three second hand Readers digest Nature lovers guide books on wildlife - (British water life, British Animals & Butterflies and Insects of Britain) all for £2.50 each.
These books are suburb and I have three others which were originally my grandfathers (British birds, Wild flowers and Trees and Shrubs)
For the price they are a bargain and the colour illustrations throughout are up there with the likes of Richard and Ian Lewington, Brett Jarrett etc.
The text itself is well detailed and I like the wildflowers book for example in that it details history on the use of the flower and such things as superstitions along with the biological facts.
Great books and easy to find and purchase on the internet. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Books - Second hand Reader Digest Nature lovers series agree they are lovely books. I particularly like the wild flower + tree books too. I never acquired the bird one, but that seemed less useful than the others. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Books - Second hand Reader Digest Nature lovers series I don't know if this is the same series but I have the British Birds Readers Digest 1969 (1st ed) can't remember where it came from - probably a market. It's got info about feeding and nesting, time of year present in Britain and good large illustrations. Articles on feathers, flight, navigation, behaviour and all kinds of stuff. Again, it's a lovely book |

Does the book you have show a picture of a tawny owl on the front book board ,and some wading plovers on the removable dust cover, if your book has the dust cover that is ?.If so it is a very popular book and very well illustrated although it is not one of the nature lovers guides which were printed later. All very nice books though |

No dustcover anymore. I still find it a useful source. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Books - Second hand Reader Digest Nature lovers series One of the most popular collected series of books is the collins new naturalist series which were first published in the 1940's and are still published yearly today.
The are collected by enthuisiasts for the highly decorative dust covers.Books without the dust covers are cheap but some of the rarer ones with the covers sell for up to £1000 . | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
