A very interesting thread!

I grew up calling woodlice 'cheesy bugs'. My brother recently taught in a school near the Thames in North Kent where my mother grew up and heard the children there using the same term!
I hope we never lose sight of the dialect words even though they may confuse!

..Sheppies or Shepsters - Starlings.
....................Spadgers - Sparrows (House)
.................Stormcocks - Mistle Thrushes.
Moon Daisy or Dog Daisy - Ox-Eye Daisy
....................Hedgepig - Hedgehog
.......................Cleggs - Horseflies
