Animal camp. Oh yes, and they are very intelligent. My pink pet (I like to thnk it is a species unknown to science) doesn't produce fruiting bodies. Instead it appears to use exploding vacuoles to toss the spores, or indeed part of its normal structure, I don't know, perhaps as far as five feet, or lots more if the wind catches them. Of course catching it doing it would be a good trick, especially as it only appears every five years or so. When other slimemoulds are fruiting normally it makes little round blobs on flat leaves. At other times round blobs just in excess of an inch on the tops of logs. It looks exactly like strawberry sorbet, and it's best ever act was to make a sugar mouse (normal size)with two eyes (vacuoles) that I could swear were looking at me. Unfortunately I tried to take a bit to culture, and I think poor little thing didn't like it because it hasn't been anywhere near as inventive since. | | | |
