| | | Re: Young Naturalists Been working this weekend so didn't get out over than a prework walk through the dunes at Holme which produced 15 spikes of Ophrys apifera (Bee Orchid), 100 or so each of Dactylorhiza praetermissa (Southern Marsh) & Dactylorhiza incarnata coccinea (Early Marsh Orchid) and 20 or 30 Dactylorhiza fuchsii (Common Spotted Orchid) spikes.
After work both on Saturday and Sunday I checked out a site where Orobanche elatior (Knapweed Broomrape) grows but I did not find any...

| | | Re: Young Naturalists Hi , I'm seth from nottingham and I'm 13 .
I have an strong interest in Chiroptera(bats ) and lepidoptera (moths mainly )
I run moth traps regularly and am participating in the garden moth scheme , have started bat box project at my local WLT reserve and am happily turning my medium sized town garden into a nature reserve .
I am a juior member of the east midlands entomological society and am frustrated with the lack of big picture coservation going on nation wide .
Sometimes I dabble in a bit of photography and money is trickling slowly into my ''Pentax k5 slr fund'' ....
Its good to see there are some other younger people on this site .

| | Re: Young Naturalists I have primed the lawn with the greengrocers entire supply of bashed up apples , so far only blackbirds feeding , but had redwings in the garden and flocks of +60 fieldfare low overhead ...
Takes the garden list up to around 30 , only missing bullfinch , grey heron and buzzard plus the wagtails to equal last years list .
Also lots of fox tracks in the snow but only seen the culprit once this year .
Nothing on the moth front , even though I have run traps once or twice
anyone else had anything interesting in their gardens ?, even though some of them sound more like modest county estates !

Neil.
I understand now, you are probably referring to the green foliage.
