| | | Study into Domestic Cats and Wildlife Hi everyone
I am currently researching domestic cats and their impact on british wildlife and would love to know you views on it, regardless of whether you own a cat or not. If any of you have a spare moment please click on the link and fill in a very short survey which consists of just 10 multiple choice questions about your opinion on the subject. https://www.kwiksurveys.com?s=KONOOK_981cbab5
Thank you so much for your views. |

| | | Re: Study into Domestic Cats and Wildlife Hi,
I looked but didn't complete it I'm afraid.
You don't have a neutral response/don't know for any of the questions which I think would make it a better survey.
It doesn't specifically say why it might be benificial to keep your cat in at dusk/dawn or keep it in your own garden- people doing the survey might think to avoid it getting stolen, or so it doesn't get too cold etc.
You ask if they think cats are a danger to wildlife. People may not consider bringing in a mouse "wildlife", so a question asking what peoples' cats bring in and how often could be quite interesting.
Also- is age and sex relevant?
You could have had a where do you live town, country etc question.
Also, asking on an environment forum you might get a different response from asking on a knitting or petrolhead forum.
Sorry- this is a bit garbled.

| | | Re: Study into Domestic Cats and Wildlife Thanks for those filling it in and for your opinions on it. I designed this as a four-point likert survey so it doesn't have a neutral response, I understand this may not make it nice for some people filling it in but it does make people make a decision either way which is why I designed it like this.
This survey is also just about peoples perceptions (it doesn't matter whether their perceptions are true or not) so what you percieve to be a danger to wildlife is up to you. I want to know what people think about the problem and don't want to influence them in any way, this is comparable to an Australian study where there has been a lot more research conducted, they also found in this study that gender did influence responses so I have asked for peoples sex and age to factor them into my analysis.
I have posted this elsewhere and I am actually studying other aspects of domestic cats seperate to this survey, so as I have a biased amount of cat owners filling this in I thought a wildlife forum may be good to counteract it along with the completely non-biased forums.
Thank you for your input, I appreciate any comments. |
