| | | hedgehog/fox/bird feeders i'm very lucky to live near a large nature reserve and golf course in cheshire, i see a pair of kestrals/foxes/buzzards and a range of garden birds daily. my garden birds have shown me which of the feeds they prefer in the feeder and i love watching the blue tits and goldfinches especially. 2 things i am not sure about is a new resident hegdehog, he/she comes everynight a happily sets our light off at silly hrs, im not sure if i should put food out to help him/she or what to put out if i do. also theres a fox which comes through my garden most mornings around the same time. he/she looks as it has mange and i dont no what to do about it.? any more ideas what to vary in the feeders or for the hedgehog would be great.. |

| | | Re: hedgehog/fox/bird feeders Hedgehogs you can feed and they will be very grateful for it. Cat/Dog meat or small biscuits, hedgehog food you can get from places like Pets at Home and the cats won't steal it. You can easily make a hedgehog feeding station, Google for it and you'll find plans.
What they need as well as food is fresh water, especially when they've come out of hibernation. A shallow dish topped up every day is ideal. Don't give milk whatever you do.
The fox will need help if it has mange. There is some good advice here but if feeding the fox isn't an option then call a local wildlife rescue so they can try to catch it as mange can spread. Even Hedgehogs will pick it up, I have several here now that have been treated for it.
