| | | Re: Advice - What animal would take mallard eggs? Hi Big dave 60 and Rashmika. I definitely have rats! Every evening I go out they are running around, poison or no poison, and if I pass one sitting in a tree beside me, it usually waits to see if I am in a friendly mood. If I speak nicely to them they come closer, but I usually snarl at them and they scarper. The babies are very cheeky. I once said shoo to one and it ignored me so I poked it with my gloved finger and it grabbed my finger in both 'hands' and proceeded to lick it.
I think rats are lovely animals and easily as intelligent as dogs, but they do BREED so, and they dig dangerous holes underneath all the pens, and even under foundations, if they're not deep enough. Beneath the garden is a maze of tunnels.
Rashmika, I wonder what your wildlife pond is like? It doesn't have steep sides does it? Hedgehogs are very prone to drowning in ponds if they can't climb out easily. My friend who is hedgehog mad, once found two drowned in her pond! Yes I'm sure you know about this. I mention it just in case, and for other readers. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
